Cold Challenge 2011
Cold Challenge 2011 was a Command Field Exercise led by the Norwegian National Joint Headquarter. 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps was invited to participate in the exercise and to act as a Higher Control Land Component Command (HICON LCC) for the Primary Training Audience (PTA). HQ 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps was also asked to reinforce the Directing Staff (DISTAFF) in Norway. In total about 4.500 soldiers, mainly representatives from Norway, the Netherlands and Sweden, participated in the exercise. Cold Challenge took place in northern Norway (NOR Brigade North, DISTAFF and CP 43 Mechanized Brigade), the Netherlands (CP 11 Airmobile Brigade) and Germany (CP 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps). Once again, 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps showed its capability to train brigade-sized units within a comprehensive approach scenario in a multinational environment.
