From 7 until 18 November 2011 the Corps trained the Dutch brigades 13 and 43 Mechanised and 11 Airmobile in exercise ODY SSEE SWORD . 361 US Civil Affairs Brigade and the Italian Taurinense Mountain Brigade supported the exercise. ODYSSEE SWORD was conducted in Germany on a NATO Training Area although the scenario was set in a fictitious part of the world, where an international crisis has to be solved and humanitarian aid is needed.

The concept of cooperation between civilian & military partners is the most promising approach to dealing with contemporary crisis. We believe cooperation should start before we meet abroad in acrisis and should include all elements of mission preparation, including common exercises and training.
Cold Challenge 2011 was a Command Field Exercise led by the Norwegian National Joint Headquarter. 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps was invited to participate in the exercise and to act as a Higher Control Land Component Command (HICON LCC) for the Primary Training Audience (PTA).

Nemesis Sword is the second exercise of the 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps since its deployment to Afghanistan and return in March 2010. The 1 (German/Netherlands) Corps is also able to act as a trainer for divisions or brigade-sized units.
The Command Post exercise (CPX) Nemesis Sword is a perfect example of that capability. From 18 to 31 October 2010, about 2,500 participants will sharpen their skills on a combined and joint UN-mandated, NATO-led, expeditionary Peace Support Operation (PSO).
From 7 through to 22 June, a major international exercise took place in Wildflecken, Germany. During the exercise, the headquarters of 1 (GE/NL) Corps (1GNC) trained German, Dutch and Norwegian units. The HQ, parts of which have been deployed several times to the ISAF HQ in Kabul, trained the 1 (GE) Division from Hanover in preparation of its deployment as HQ Regional Command North within ISAF in 2011. An excellent opportunity for the experts from 1 GNC to share with their German partners the many lessons learned and experiences gained with ISAF’s comprehensive approach.
This HQ intended to exercise the Corps Staff (maximum of 350 pax) in a Command Post Exercise (CPX) in a generic Crisis Response Operation scenario, in a Combined Joint Force environment. The actual exercise last seven days and the daily schedule was an ‘extended day shift’ (12 hours) with a shift update in the morning. Individual training (Academics dedicated to CRO Operations) prior to the CPX was conducted in 3 days in September 2008.
Ex KINDRED SWORD 2007 was a Joint and combined CPX will be conducted from 07-24 May 2007. The setting was an UN-mandated, NATO-led, Out-of-Area Operation within the full mission spectrum of NRF mission. The exercise was held at the Military Training Area Lehnin, Germany.
The overall aim of the exercise was to train planning and conducting operations in a scenario covering the NRF mission spectrum within a ‘’Joint Environment’’. Ex KS 07 was connected as much as possible with exercises NOBLE MARINER (MCC) and NOBLE AWARD (ACC).
Train assigned and affiliated formations and units of 1 (GE/NL) Corps, which was the Combined Joint Forces Land Component Command (CJFLCC), in the full mission spectrum (low, medium and high intensity conflicts), in order to maintain operational capabilities.
Exercise JOINT SWORD was one of two main exercises of 1 (GE/NL) Corps in its CJFLCC role in 2006. It is linked to PEACE RIDER 1-2006, which will be the OPP phase for JOINT SWORD. It was also be linked to the second main exercise JAGGED SWORD 2006, which was an FTX in the Netherlands.
Purpose of the exercise Jagged Sword was to train HQ 1 (GE/NL) Corps in deployment and conducting crisis response operations using a reach-back concept and to train a Danish Division and 77 NLD Engineer Brigade as Field HQs in planning and conducting a crisis response operation with the full mission spectrum (“three block operations”) in a joint environment.
Exercise JAGGED SWORD was the second of two main exercises of 1 (GE/NL) Corps in its CJF LCC role in 2006.
